Albany-based strategic communications firm honored for third consecutive year.
ALBANY, NY – Corning Place Communications, an Albany-based strategic communications firm, was honored for its work on behalf of the Police Benevolent Association of New York State (PBA) and the New York State Professional Firefighters (NYSPFFA) at the Capital Region’s Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Empire Awards.
Held on Tuesday, January 29, this annual event pays tribute to excellence in the field of communications.
In the Integrated Campaign category, Corning Place was awarded the Empire Award for: Declaring Independence Requires a Strong Voice. This integrated political communications campaign combined direct mail, online communications, and social and earned media to help the PBA of New York establish a new union and secure a multi-year contract.
“Corning Place Communications is committed to an approach that embraces affirmative, layered and sustained messaging. We were proud to amplify the voice of the PBA of New York State,” said Paul Larrabee, managing director of Corning Place Communications. “At the time they were a fledgling organization, with a shoe-string budget. Together we stayed true to a creative, aggressive and well-executed strategy that simply overwhelmed an entrenched opponent.”
This is the third consecutive year that Corning Place Communications has won in the Integrated Campaign category.
In the nonprofit Public Affairs Campaign category, Corning Place was a finalist for: Ordinary New Yorkers Doing an Extraordinary Job – a campaign developed and executed on behalf of NYSPFFA. The effort, which implemented an aggressive mix of earned media and grassroots advocacy to create protection for fire fighters from a newly created pension tier, proved successful.
“Every community in the state benefits from the work done by our fire fighters. Corning Place Communications’ strategy was to highlight that role and remind the public of the elevated risk and toll that accompanies the dangers of their job as first responders,” said Larrabee. “It is a fact that in New York State a fire company responds to an emergency call every minute of the day. We are grateful for their services, are proud to be part of their team, and pleased to know that our efforts on their behalf were effective.”
